Boynton Beach Police Department: Video of Shooting At A "Peace In The Hood" Event

Boynton Beach Police responded to multiple reports of shots fired into a crowd shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday, July 5 at Sara Sims Park. Upon arrival, BBPD Officers found one female victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the femur. Shortly after, BBPD dispatch received reports that two additional female victims were self-transported to local hospitals. One victim was suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg and the other suffered from a gunshot wound to the hip.

BBPD Officers determined that the shooting occurred during an unsanctioned event advertised as “Peace in the Hood”. The event had nearly 500 attendees. The initial investigation shows that at approximately 8:04 p.m. multiple rival gang members began shooting at each other while attendees, including numerous children, were in the crossfire.

During the shooting, several vehicles both occupied and unoccupied were struck. Additional victims sustained minor injuries and were treated at local hospitals or on-scene by Boynton Beach Fire Rescue. All victims are expected to make a full recovery.
