New Features and RELEASE DATE - Type 11 Prospector

Frontier has officially revealed the Type-11 Prospector, a brand-new medium-class mining ship from Lakon Spaceways. First shown during the Frontier Unlocked livestream on July 30, 2025, the ship is scheduled to go on sale via ARX in autumn 2025, with availability expected around September 23, 2025.

The Prospector isn’t just another hull—it introduces new mining gameplay mechanics thanks to a hardpoint-mounted module exclusive to this ship, designed for “a different type of mining” than existing methods. The ship carries Lakon’s rugged industrial DNA, sharing design cues with the Type-8 Transporter, including exposed pistons, heavy frames, and an off-center cockpit for improved surface visibility.

In short, the Type-11 Prospector is shaping up to be the first true dedicated mining vessel in Elite Dangerous—combining Lakon’s hauling pedigree with specialised prospecting tools to redefine how Commanders approach resource extraction.
