Mr. Robinson Crusoe

Mr. Robinson Crusoe is a 1932 American adventure-comedy film starring Douglas Fairbanks. The film's story is an updated, comedic take on the classic tale of Robinson Crusoe.

Plot Summary:

Wealthy yachtsman Steve Drexel (played by Douglas Fairbanks) gets into a bet with his friends that he can survive on a deserted South Seas island with nothing but a toothbrush. He is left to fend for himself, but with his ingenuity and athleticism, he improbably builds a comfortable and well-equipped home.

He befriends local animals, including a dog, a monkey, and a goat. He also attempts to find a "Man Friday," but his encounter with a native man doesn't go as planned. Soon after, a young woman fleeing an unwanted wedding on a nearby island becomes trapped in one of his devices. He names her "Saturday," and the two of them, along with his animal companions, navigate life on the island.

The film's plot involves a series of comedic and action-packed events, including a confrontation with the native people who were convinced by Drexel's friends to pretend to be cannibals and attack him as a prank. In the end, Drexel wins his bet and leaves the island with Saturday, bringing her to New York.
