This is not just about football – it’s about decades of anger, injustice, and mistrust. Many in Bizerte feel that referees and even the Tunisian Football Federation have cheated them time after time in big matches against Club Africain. The rivalry has grown into something raw, emotional, and sometimes violent.

I went to Bizerte to experience this forgotten derby together with the Bizertin ultras – some of the bravest and most passionate fans I’ve ever met. After the match, chaos broke out with heavy police presence, teargas, and riots in the streets.

This is a side of Tunisian football most outsiders don’t know about – but it’s very real, and very intense.
