Elul is a time of repentance and introspection, leading up to the high holy days of Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot that begin in Tishrei.

It’s a month to ready our hearts and minds for the coming King! In Hebraic tradition, Elul is a time when “the King is in the field,” meaning the King comes to meet His servants as they work to harvest His field.

This symbolizes God’s desire to walk closely and intimately with us in our daily lives. He is approachable, and He is the King of kings and Lord of lords.

“The Lord is King forever and ever… You will prepare their heart; You will cause Your ear to hear.” —Psalm 10:16-17
