Stonington, CT - Officers responded to a collision where a pedestrian was struck, and the driver fled the scene. When police responded to Mason Island Road at Glen Hill Road, they said they found an injured pedestrian and witnesses directed officers to the suspect vehicle that was stopped in traffic nearby.

Investigators said they later learned the suspect had initially backed into and struck another person after being seen speeding and advised to slow down.

The driver, identified as a 75-year-old from Mystic, was taken into custody and is facing charges including evading responsibility with physical injury, reckless endangerment, criminal attempt to commit assault, reckless driving and disobeying the signal of an officer. They were released on a $250,000 bond and is due in court on September 10.
