A U.S. military academy has suddenly canceled its planned ceremony honoring Tom Hanks as an “outstanding citizen.”

In an email, officials offered no clarity on whether Hanks’s award was revoked or simply postponed for another format.

Instead, the Academy said its priority is shifting back to its core mission: building the world’s “most lethal force.”
