An Orange County woman has been charged with six felonies after allegedly registering her dog to vote in multiple California elections.

62-year-old Laura Lee Yourex reportedly cast ballots in the name of her dog Maya Jean Yourex during the 2021 recall election of Gov. Gavin Newsom and the 2022 primary election. One of those ballots was even counted.

Prosecutors say she faces charges of:

Perjury

Registering a non-existent person to vote

Casting ballots when not entitled to vote

Offering false documents

If convicted, Yourex could spend at least six years in prison.
