Driver Runs Over Mailbox, Intoxication Suspected, GOODRICH, August 7, 2025 - At approximately 2:30 pm on August 7, 2025, the driver of a white 2013 Accura RDX was north-bound on east-bound on FM-1988 West when he left the pavement to the right and ran over a mailbox. The mailbox was strong enough to where when the vehicle knocked it over and landed on it, the mailbox didn't crush and the vehicle's drive wheel was off the ground so that the driver couldn't drive away, but was stuck. A witness came upon the scene and walked to the vehicle and found the driver, David Willock, 44, of Goodrich, passed out behind the wheel. Trooper Terrence Dickens, with The Texas Highway Patrol was dispatched to investigate. When Trooper Dickens arrived he found Willock awake and began talking to Willock. Willock's demeanor showed intoxication. His language was nonsensical and incoherent and his eye movement was all over the place. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to check Willock out. Willock had no smell of alcohol but appeared heavily intoxicated. He was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital to be checked out. Pending toxicology reports, Willock might be facing the charge of driving while intoxicated. Willock's vehicle was recovered by Smith Towing out of Livingston.
