Guthrie, OK - A Logan County deputy was attacked by dogs while responding to a domestic disturbance in Guthrie on Labor Day, leading to a defensive shooting at the animals.

First responders tried asking the suspect to leave his yard to talk several times, but when he did not reply, deputies approached him, and his dogs began to attack, according to a police report.

According to the Logan County Sheriff's Office, multiple deputies were responding to the disturbance, with the yard filled with several dogs. The victim claimed the animals had kept her off the property for years.

Deputies repeatedly asked the suspect to come out and talk, saying, "Logan County Sheriff's Office, can you come out and talk to us?" according to the report.

After multiple attempts to get the suspect to talk, deputies went into the fenced-in yard to find the suspect, who retreated to a shed. The pack of dogs swarmed the deputy.

According to the incident report, the deputy felt nibbling around his legs before the dogs began biting his legs and backside, knocking him to the ground. He shot at the dogs after they continued to bite and chase him.

Body camera footage shows another deputy using pepper spray to hold the dogs off as they attempted to hop the fence. The suspect was taken into custody, and the injured deputy drove himself to a hospital for examination of his bites.

The victim informed deputies that none of the dogs were vaccinated. The undersheriff told KOCO that the injured deputy is expected to be OK.
