From Bank of England to Canada: A Recipe for Disaster

It is extraordinary that Mark Carney has become the Prime Minister of Canada. He did a terrible job as Governor of the Bank of England in Britain. Many of the problems that exploded on my watch—problems I was blamed for—were actually created by him.

He backed Labour in the election and supported Rachel Reeves’ policies, which are driving the country toward bankruptcy. So why on earth the Liberal Party of Canada has chosen this man, I have no idea. And it is illegitimate, in my view, that someone who has never even been elected as a Member of Parliament in Canada is now Prime Minister. I am utterly puzzled.

Now, I’m not going to tell Canadians how to vote. Of course, I want Conservatives to be elected in Canada. But the reality is that Justin Trudeau pursued the same destructive policies Europe has followed: high taxes, high spending, neglect of natural resources. Back at the turn of the millennium, the average Briton was catching up to the average American in terms of income. Today, we are $34,000 a year behind. We are poorer than Mississippi—the poorest American state. The same is true of France, Germany, and, to some extent, Canada—because they pursued these same failed policies.

Justin Trudeau was the architect of this in Canada, and Mark Carney has been one of its biggest advocates. I honestly don’t know what is going on in Canada. But just as I believe people in Britain need to wake up to the real threat facing our country, people in Canada need to wake up as well.
