WHEELER: “The second part is the brokenness of the nuclear family, the brokenness of the black family, the fact that black fathers are absent — “
TURNER: “Oh, no! You’re not going to sit up there and talk about the brokenness of the black family. How dare you?”
Cuomo: “Well, the family — I think the family in general you can point to. I don’t know that one race over the other works.”
TURNER: “Don’t speak about the black families.”
WHEELER: “This is also true for the murderer who killed two young children, a white man.”
TURNER: “Do not single out the black families.”
WHEELER: “Will you listen to what I’m saying? I literally said, the broken nuclear family, both black families and white families — “
TURNER: “The nerve of you!”
WHEELER: “That murderer — “
Cuomo: “You singled out — you singled out black families, but if you’re saying all families, it’s a different point.”
WHEELER: “It’s especially evident in the black community, but it is also true that when fathers were absent, that young men are more likely to commit crimes.”
Cuomo: “All right, I’ll put you guys on a text thread. Look — “
TURNER: “Put us together. I’m open to that, Liz. I’m open to it.”
Cuomo: “I’ll put you together. Liz is open to conversation.”
TURNER: “Let’s do it.”
