There have been numerous claims that a drone was sighted in the vicinity of a recent incident involving a boat. However, the only footage released prominently features the vessel itself, which raises questions about the authenticity of these reports. If individuals genuinely felt threatened by a drone overhead, one would expect that at least someone would have the foresight to record it in action, given modern technology’s capability to capture video in real time. Could it be that this is all just another fabrication?

It reminds me of a past incident involving Greta Thunberg, where a photo showed her standing at an airport with her hands behind her back, which many interpreted as an indication that she was handcuffed. This narrative was thoroughly debunked, leading many to question its validity. It’s instances like these that contribute to an atmosphere of skepticism surrounding similar allegations, casting a shadow of doubt over this current situation.

In light of pending investigations, Tunisia's interior ministry has officially stated that claims regarding a drone striking a boat at the port “have no basis in truth.” Yet, this assertion contrasts sharply with the account given by Miguel Duarte, a Portuguese activist who was on board the vessel during the incident. Speaking at a press conference held in Tunis on Tuesday, Duarte insisted that he had a clear view of a drone hovering just a few metres above him moments before he witnessed a violent explosion.

Duarte recounted his experience, stating, “The drone was hovering for a few seconds directly above a pile of life jackets before it dropped what appeared to be a bomb.” He described the aftermath vividly: “The moment it exploded, there was an enormous flame, and fire broke out on board almost instantly. We were taken by surprise and had no idea where the fire extinguishers were located. Fortunately, after asking other crew members for assistance, we managed to locate the extinguishers and, through our combined efforts, successfully put out the fire. Thankfully, everyone on board remained safe throughout this alarming ordeal.”

This stark contrast between the official denial and the eyewitness account further complicates the narrative, prompting many to ponder the truth behind this contentious situation.
