The issue of whether women are allowed to preach or exercise authority over men in the church seemed pretty clear cut to me- until it didn't. This is the story of how I came to an answer on the question that isn't going to make the people at the extremes of either side happy. What seem to be the strongest passages on the issue, the ones typically used to give the seeminglly vaguer passages context, turn out to be the least understood.
