This Horrible Tragedy Should Have Been Prevented

Iryna Zarutska was failed by the system, the bystanders on the train, the black community, and the judge who refused to properly sentence and keep Decarlos Brown off of the streets and away from being a danger to society. This heartbreaking tragedy is one of many that could have been prevented if our criminal justice system and certain cultural shortcomings were addressed and fixed decades ago.
