In order to live with an aunt and uncle she hasn't seen in years, Annette, a humble orphan from a small country farm, moves to the affluent suburbs. She is initially thrilled to have a stable home at last. While her uncle prepares her school schedule and the housemaid spoils her endlessly, her aunt shops for her and gives her a makeover.
