Changemaker for Child Welfare, Poverty Alleviation, and Sustainable Partnerships in the Philippines
---
For 17 years, Jun N. Godornes has been at the forefront of humanitarian leadership, devoting his career to lifting children and families out of poverty and creating pathways for a better future. As Director for Resource Development at World Vision Development Foundation, Inc., Jun has transformed generosity into impact, ensuring that resources flow to the communities and children who need them most. His stewardship has not only fueled programs but also cultivated a culture of compassion and accountability, where every peso, partnership, and project translates into meaningful change.
Jun’s career at World Vision began in 2007 as Monitoring and Evaluation Officer for a U.S. government-funded Anti-Child Labor Project. This role deepened his conviction that the fight against poverty begins with protecting children and upholding their dignity. By 2009, he stepped into Resource Development, where his ability to engage stakeholders and forge alliances became the backbone of World Vision’s partnerships with individuals, schools, corporations, and churches nationwide. These partnerships have sustained education, livelihood, and emergency response initiatives that continue to reshape vulnerable communities.
Beyond programmatic work, Jun’s leadership has been tested and proven on a national scale. As Interim National Director until October 2024, he provided steady guidance to World Vision Philippines during a pivotal transition. His tenure as part of the Senior Leadership Team has been marked by visionary planning, inclusive decision-making, and a relentless focus on ensuring that the organization stays true to its mission: to put the most vulnerable children at the center of every effort.
Jun’s impact lies not only in the funds he has raised or the policies he has shaped, but in the trust he has built with communities who see World Vision as a partner in their struggles, and trust with donors who believe in the integrity and transparency of his work. His story demonstrates how effective resource mobilization is not merely about funding projects, but about mobilizing people’s hopes, commitments, and collective will to create systemic change.
A proud graduate of the University of the Philippines College of Public Administration in Diliman, Jun combines academic discipline with practical wisdom and moral clarity. His approach is both strategic and empathetic, bridging the worlds of policy, philanthropy, and grassroots realities.
In recognizing Jun N. Godornes, the Icons of Change International Awards 2025 celebrates a changemaker whose work embodies Sustainable Development Goal 1: No Poverty. His journey affirms that poverty is not inevitable, but surmountable—when leaders, institutions, and communities come together with vision, courage, and faith. Through his service, thousands of children and families now glimpse a horizon filled not with deprivation, but with dignity and hope.
