One of America's most acclaimed playwrights, screenwriters, and directors, he is also a Pulitzer Prize winner, a keen observer who captures many aspects of our humanity and culture with unparalleled precision and intensity.
His books, too, offer equal intensity and incisiveness - The Secret Knowledge: On the Dismantling of American Culture, and Recessional: The Death of Free Speech and the Cost of a Free Lunch in particular are important exposés of the corrosive impact of leftist ideology on American culture.

On September 6, 2025, the American Freedom Alliance hosted its Heroes of Conscience Awards Dinner, honoring Robert Spencer with the American Freedom Award for his truth-telling on national security and Dr. John Eastman with the Hineini Award for his resilience and commitment to principle. Keynote speaker David Mamet, a renowned playwright, delivered insightful commentary on American values. Filmmakers Ann McElhinney and Phelim McAleer shared their powerful storytelling, including verbatim plays about real-life events. Master of Ceremonies Bill Whittle guided the evening with wit and insight, making the event a vibrant tribute to truth and liberty.
