Billy Gibbons_ Treat Her Right

Billy Gibbons, the iconic guitarist and frontman of ZZ Top, released a standout cover of the 1965 classic "Treat Her Right" as the second track on his debut solo album, Perfectamundo, in 2015. The original song was a massive hit for Roy Head and The Traits, written by Head and Gene Kurtz, peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and blending blue-eyed soul with rockabilly energy. Gibbons' version transforms it into a vibrant, Latin-infused blues-rock groove, reflecting his early training under Latin jazz legend Tito Puente and his time living in Mexico. The track opens with a gritty drum beat and Gibbons' signature guitar tone, layered with vintage Latin piano riffs that give it a fresh, "Slanguish" (a mix of Spanish, English, and slang) vibe, as described on the album packaging.
