Inspiration:
In old Germanic folklore, there are many stories and poems of troll/ trölle/ trylla encounters among travelers, warriors, and heroes. Trolls are seen in many different forms and are generally unhelpful to humans. They can range in size to be as big as a sleeping mountain, down to fitting in a human hand. They are usually strong and ugly, but very rarely deceivingly beautiful (holdra). They may trick, lie, cheat, steal, harass, kill you, eat you, and destroy your farm or land. The troll toss is described as boulder hurling at unwanted buildings and churches under construction. They dwell deep in the caves, forests, and mountains away from human activity, and intruders are not welcome. There is some overlap in the way the Jötunn/Jætte/Yotun are described in Mythology. Jötunn giants are smarter and much more powerful. They are the enemy of Aesir and Vanir (the gods) and are a challenging threat. They dwell in their own land Jötunheimr, but cross into other worlds to spy and fight.
