Proto-Germanic people believed that brave warriors that died on the battlefield would go to Valhalla (hall of the slain) ruled by the Allfather Odin in one of the nine worlds called Asgard (home of the Aesir and Vanir). Half of those that died would go to Fólkvangr ruled by the god Freyja. Freyja also has a hall called Sessrúmnir in Fólkvangr set far apart from Valhalla in Asgard. In Valhalla chosen legendary warriors, kings, and warlords wait until Ragnarök (the great war of the apocalypse). Odin's warriors will march out of the gates to aid him and the gods in the fight against the Jötnar(supernatural beings) and the prophecy will unfold. 💀
