Well, Yotham was a good king as was his father, Uzziah … Although we know what happened to Uzziah and his pride or as a result of his pride. But his son was very bad, we know him, Ahaz. Ahaz, the son of Jotham and the grandson of Uzziah. He was idolatrous and sinful, at one of the most critical junctures in the history of Judah.
2CHRON 28:16-21, At that time King Ahaz sent to the kings of Assyria for help. The Edomites had again come and attacked Judah and carried away prisoners, while the Philistines had raided towns in the foothills and in the Negev of Judah. They captured and occupied Beth Shemesh, Aijalon aye yah lone and Gederoth, as well as Soko, Timnah and Gimzo, with their surrounding villages.
As the news was given, the heart of Ahaz was moved and the heart of his people “as the trees of the wood are moved with the wind” (Vs 2). In other words, they were terror-stricken. Shaken like a leaf om a tree.
2 KING 16:3, But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel.
He was to meet him at the end of the aqueduct from the upper pool, on the highway to the Fuller’s Field: Seemingly irrelevant details do indeed make an important points. The first point is that all of this happened to real people at a real time and in real places. This isn’t make-believe or fairy tales. The Aqueduct of the Upper Pool is significant, especially in the reign of King Hezekiah as well as here in the prophetic ministry of Isaiah.
2KING 18:17, Then the king of Assyria sent the (his) army (all the leaders as well) to King Hezekiah at Jerusalem. They advanced and came to Jerusalem, and they took their position by the aqueduct of the upper pool, which is on the road to the Washerman's Field.
The Aqueduct of the Upper Pool is believed to have been part of Jerusalem’s ancient water supply system, crucial for the city’s survival, especially during battles. King Hezekiah is credited with significant improvements to Jerusalem’s water infrastructure, including the construction of Hezekiah’s Tunnel, which redirected water from the Gihon Spring to the Pool of Siloam. It allowed Jerusalem to have water during sieges.
