OREM, Utah, September 12, 2025 — FBI Director Kash Patel gave an emotional update on the investigation into Charlie Kirk’s assassination, outlining the massive law enforcement response that led to the arrest of suspect Tyler Robinson. Patel praised federal, state, and local authorities for their speed, precision, and coordination in processing the crime scene and pursuing every lead.

“It is a large crime scene,” Patel explained. “State and local authorities along with federal authorities processed that crime scene quickly. Forensic evidence has already been evaluated at FBI laboratories in Quantico and here in Utah. We will continue to process and deliver evidence to Governor Cox and his team.”

Patel revealed that the FBI has handled an unprecedented flood of tips: “Last night we had a total of approximately 7,000 leads. As of this morning, we have over 11,000 leads that were called in to the FBI. Every one of those leads will be run out.”

He credited the partnership between the FBI and state authorities as decisive, naming field offices in Salt Lake, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Denver, San Antonio, Las Vegas, Pittsburgh, and Buffalo that all contributed. “The arrest is a testament to the dedication of good law enforcement being great,” Patel said. “The public had a right to demand such an expeditious solving of an investigation. The FBI answered that call diligently.”

Patel made clear the investigation remains ongoing, promising to support state and local prosecutions with every resource needed. But his most poignant moment came at the close of his remarks, when he addressed Charlie Kirk directly:

“Lastly, to my friend, Charlie Kirk — rest now, brother. We have the watch. And I’ll see you in Valhalla.”
