Suspect in Charlie Kirk’s killing is identified by officials

Authorities have identified Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old Utah resident, as the suspect in the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox said investigators tracked Robinson through surveillance footage, interviews with family members, and online messages with his roommate, which detailed plans involving a rifle recovered near the campus.

Robinson allegedly engraved inscriptions on the bullets, including phrases such as “Bella Ciao” and “Hey fascists! Catch!” Authorities matched his appearance to campus surveillance and arrested him Friday morning wearing similar clothing.

Public records indicate Robinson had no prior criminal history, was last registered to vote in 2021, and attended Utah State University for one semester, NBC News has reported.

The killing has sparked national outrage, with officials condemning the attack as a political assassination, while Turning Point USA remembered Kirk as a figure committed to engaging young Americans despite threats throughout his life.
