Families Left Homeless In Gaza

Israel's bombing campaign across Gaza has changed the Strip's skyline. It's destroyed high-rise buildings and with them, the homes of Palestinian families.

Thousands of people are being forced to find shelter anywhere they can.

Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud reports from Gaza City.

Israeli air strikes on Tuesday Sep. 9, 2025, destroyed a residential building in Shati refugee camp, burying at least 25 people in the rubble.
Some of them are still alive and are able to communicate with their relatives.

Al Jazeera’s Ibrahim al Khalili joined civil defence crews at the site of the building where rescue efforts are underway.

Hundreds of thousands of people are fleeing to southern Gaza, after Israeli forces ordered them leave Gaza City, or face attacks.
Palestinian families have lined the main coastal road leaving with whatever belongings they're able to carry.
About one million people live in and around Gaza City.
Israel has intensified its attacks there, particularly in residential blocks, after announcing it plans to seize the area.

Al Jazeera’s Tareq Abu Azzoum is in al-Mawasi in southern Gaza, Palestine, where many are being told to go.
