📹⚡️ "Lovets" ("Ловец") UAV Interceptor based on BRDM-2 with ZU-23-2 (“ЗУ-23-2”) unveiled for the first time live-fire.

Russia has developed a mobile anti-aircraft artillery system called Lovets (“Hunter”) to counter enemy drones. The platform is equipped with a bi-spectral electro-optical targeting system.

As its primary weapon, the system employs the well-proven twin 23 mm ZU-23-2 (2A13) autocannon, extensively used in numerous armed conflicts.

The weapon can engage targets at altitudes up to 1,500 meters and ranges up to 2,500 meters, with a maximum rate of fire of 2,000 rounds per minute.

The ZU-23-2 is mounted on the roof of a BRDM-2 armored vehicle. The three-man crew operates from inside the hull, making use of a modernized thermal sight and a camera with 32x optical zoom, allowing detection of hostile UAVs at up to 3,000 meters both day and night, in all weather conditions.

The system is effective against loitering munitions such as the An-196 "Lyutyi" at ranges of 1,700–2,000 m and the Morok drone at 700–1,300 m. However, it currently lacks a compact X-band fire-control radar, a laser rangefinder, and programmable airburst ammunition.

Batteries of 4–6 "Lovets" vehicles, working in conjunction with teams armed with Verba MANPADS and Pantsir-S1/SM air defense systems, could provide effective protection of refineries and strategically important defense-industrial facilities in Russia’s rear areas against combined strikes involving loitering munitions and cruise missiles such as the FP-5, Peklo, and Storm Shadow.
