Relationship

For generations, people have survived and thrived by doing whatever worked for them in a given time and place. We use the phrase “Great Mystery.” This phrase originated with the Native Americans, and it is important to acknowledge this. They used it to point towards That, the Great Ocean, the Life Force. They aligned with it in their own way, so it is not for us to judge, because it worked for them.

But will it work for us right now? And will it work for future generations? Who knows? The danger arises when one voice—whether from science, the Church, or culture—dominates and seeks to eradicate everyone else. That’s simply ineffective. It’s a monopoly, and we need diversity. We need a variety of options so that people can choose what works for them. Some people are more logical, and they need to use their brains. Others are more physical and need to do something somatic, such as working with horses or doing yoga. Some people work with images and draw. Whatever works!

What unites them all is their acknowledgement of forces greater than ourselves—a Higher Power—and their connection to it. They maintain an ongoing relationship with this power. For some, this might be Jesus. For others, it might be Krishna. Whatever works! Here, we simply come together to be in the field of That, each of us bringing our own perspective and approach, like small parts of a larger, unknowable, and ungraspable field of shared Presence. The purpose of this is to align with Life, be more alive, and live more fully!
