This led to a series of highly covert and strange experiments, from attempts to walk through solid walls to the development of psychic spies.

At the heart of this story is Lieutenant Colonel Jim Channon's "First Earth Battalion" manual, a document that blended New Age philosophy with military strategy, proposing soldiers could become invisible, sense plant auras, and pacify the enemy with "sparkly eyes." While some of these ideas were metaphorical, they were taken literally by high-ranking officials, leading to the infamous "Goat Lab" at Fort Bragg, where soldiers allegedly attempted to stop the hearts of animals simply by staring at them.

Ronson interviews the key figures behind these programs, including General Stubblebine himself, the visionary Jim Channon, and Guy Savelli, the martial artist who claims he successfully performed the fabled "death stare." This film pieces together the secret history of these paranormal experiments and questions their ongoing impact in the post-9/11 world.
