Star Trek's "Federation": Is it Really a space United Nations?

A fictional universe allows creators and their audience to experience our "reality" through an artistic lens. One such avenue is political, and in the realm of Star Trek, that is one which was done often from its inception. This video I present the Star Trek's "Federation" and whether or not it's a "space United Nations" as I've heard several times over the past decades.
