With its comic book beginning, "Gasoline Alley" was a radio hit. Bill Lipton, Mason Adams, and Robert Dryden were among the cast members of the 1948–1949 syndicated sitcom Gasoline Alley.

The Polka Dots, a harmonica ensemble, provided the opening theme music for the Autolite-sponsored program. Skeezix and his partner, Wilmer Bobble, operated the Wallet and Bobble Garage, a petrol station and garage, in the 15-minute episodes. This series ran on WOR in New York from July 16, 1948, to January 7, 1949. Over 4 hours of programming.
