I just watched Asmongold’s video “Something Insane Happened Today”—his reaction to the assassination of Charlie Kirk. What’s worse than the tragedy is how social media is nearly drowning in calls for violence, yet platforms and the government act as if it’s business as usual. The left pushes rhetoric daily, often celebrating or excusing violent language, and the right is forced to stay defensive, keep playing nice. In this reaction, I call out the left for normalizing violence without accountability, condemn platforms for their failure to police calls to violence properly, and argue that we need real consequences—not just statements.
Charlie Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot at Utah Valley University during a public event. This event has unleashed widespread outrage and mourning.
After his death, many influencers and users on right-leaning platforms responded with militant, violent rhetoric—some even calling it an act of war—and blaming the political left.
YouTube, X (formerly Twitter), and other social media platforms have struggled to moderate graphic/shocking content related to the shooting, including video footage, with limited content removal, restricted visibility, or delayed response.
Why I’m Critical of the Left & Platforms (and Support Accountability):
The truth is: rhetoric matters. When public figures constantly stoke anger, dehumanize opponents, or praise violent imagery, it lowers the bar for real violence. And platforms—despite having policies against calls for violence—often fail to enforce them consistently, especially when it’s the rhetoric of the “approved” political side. It’s cowardly to call others dangerous without criticizing your own camp. If the right starts responding in kind, much of the fault lies with those who let hate slide unchecked.
In this video I cover Charlie Kirk assassination reaction, Asmongold on political violence, online calls to violence, criticism of leftist rhetoric, platform responsibility social media, why free speech doesn’t mean no accountability, reaction to hate speech online, right wing being pushed to retaliation, government silence on violent language, platforms letting calls for violence slide. These keywords help surface this video for anyone looking for political violence discussions, social media responsibility, and conservative reaction content, Leaflit reacts, Charlie Kirk assassination, Asmongold video reaction, political violence online, platform responsibility, left wing violent rhetoric, reaction to extremist social media posts, critique of censorship double standard, right wing pushed back, strong reaction video.
