โ€œElect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification (โ€˜sanctificationโ€™ in Greek implies โ€˜holiness in behavior producedโ€™) of the (Holy) Spirit, unto obedience (an obedience in loving sonship) and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace (power) unto you, and peace, be multiplied.โ€ [1st Peter 1:2]

The Holy Spirit was sent by the Father and the Son that He might lead us in the way, revealing and teaching us the Character and Words of Christ so that we might turn from being conformed into the image of the World into being transformed into the image or character like unto Christ by the grace/power of the Holy Spirit. And to have peace with God through the Atonement found in Christโ€ฆ and therein walk obediently to the Father, as Jesus did when He was in this Earth, as His witnesses. (Note that upon His baptism, the Holy Spirit anointed the man Jesus who set the example for all mankind to follow. By the Holy Spirit, we can also walk in the same power of the Holy Spirit that Jesus, our Model, walked in.)

Beginning in John 16, Verse 7 Jesus saysโ€ฆ โ€œNevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.โ€ For the disciples, the loss of the Lord would be great (having walked so intimately with Him for three and a half years and now being without Him, having to face all that they would go through), but He had to go up and complete the Atonement of His death and cleanse the Heavenly Altar with His Blood, and answer to the call of His glorified presence in Heaven as our High Priestโ€ฆ this being the reason He told His disciples โ€˜you will see me no moreโ€™ as He would ascend this time to the Heavenly Holy of Holies and receive the โ€˜garmentโ€™ of His glorified body. Securing the sending of the Holy Spirit and His power at Pentecost that would surely prove to be a great advanced blessing upon His presence. While in that human form, the Son of God had taken on the form of man, as Jesus the Son of Man, and therefore was no longer โ€˜omnipresent,โ€™ and was thereby limited in His personal unglorified capacities. By Christโ€™s remaining with the redeemed, His Atonement work and glorification as Godโ€™s victorious righteous Son would be incomplete and the Holy Spiritโ€™s sending and omnipresent work in the โ€˜Bodyโ€™ of the now Glorified Son of the Father, as a consequence, could not proceed. But now this Man, Jesus, Who was made in the very image of God, having glorified Him like no other Being before, may now as a result, send His Spirit, Whose power may indwell His redeemed followers for purposes never before realized. (The power to indwell/impart into the redeemed personโ€™s heart the divine nature of God could only come after Jesusโ€™ glorificationโ€ฆ after having presented His Blood in the Heavenly Holy of Holies.)

Forty days passed since His Resurrectionโ€ฆ His glorification in Heaven is yet before Him/ahead of Him. (Note that for 40 days after His Resurrection, Jesus was only seen in His resurrected body. But after His ascension from the Mount of Olives, He would then receive eternally His glorified Bodyโ€ฆ that pre-glorification transfiguration which Peter, James, and John had seen (Matthew 17:1-2)โ€ฆ only Paul on the Road to Damascus and John in Revelation are recorded as having seen Him in His glorified state.) For those 40 days, He had shown Himself only to His followers โ€œby many infallible proofsโ€ (Acts 1:3) that He was alive again after His Crucifixion. When He had spoken to them of more โ€œthings pertaining to the Kingdom of God.โ€ He then ascended to Heaven for the last time in His โ€˜resurrectedโ€™ form (His mere resurrected body) to finish His great work of Atonement and be glorified. The chosen Apostles yet wondered โ€œwilt thou at this time (at the coming outpouring of the Holy Spirit) restore again the kingdom of Israel?โ€ (Note that this is a valid question based on the fact that the Restoration of Israel is to occur when God pours out His Holy Spirit upon them with power, as prophesied by the prophet Joel.) To which He had responded โ€œit is not for you to knowโ€ฆโ€ Ten days later, the Baptism of the Holy Spiritโ€™s power would come upon these Jews according to Old Testament prophecy. After which, Peter stood up and said that which is recorded starting in Acts 2:22โ€ฆ โ€œYe men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves....
