I-80 Gold Accelerates Autoclave Build to Secure $1,000 Margin per Ounce

I-80 Gold is executing a bold turnaround strategy to become a top-tier gold producer in Nevada, targeting 200,000 ounces annually by 2028. Speaking with Kitco Mining at the Precious Metals Summit in Beaver Creek, CFO Ryan Snow laid out a clear roadmap to production—and a decisive break from costly toll milling.

“At today’s metal prices, we’re losing $1,000 to $1,300 in margin through our toll milling agreement,” Snow said, pointing to the urgent need to fast-track the company’s autoclave project, now central to Phase One of its growth strategy. With Granite Creek and Archimedes underground mines moving toward production, I-80 aims for first gold by late 2027.

To fund the plan, I-80 is advancing an $800 million recapitalization, including $350–400 million in new debt, a non-core asset sale, and a potential royalty on the Mineral Point project. Snow emphasized the company is structured to maximize internal cash flow once the autoclave is online.
