And not only did they break YAH's command in Deuteronomy 7:2-3 by intermarrying with the gentiles but they also became idolators, breaking the first commandment in Exodus 20:3 "You (Israel) shall have no gods beside Me (YAH)." In Judges 2:1-4 we read, "an angel of YAH came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break My covenant with you. And you shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; you shall throw down their altars: but you have not obeyed My voice: why have you done this? Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you. And it came to pass, when the angel of YAH spake these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept." Notice how the Israelites will lift up their voice and weep rather than simply keep the laws and commandments of YAH so that they don't have to lift up their voice and weep. Even today, the Israelites/black slave descendants will lift up their voice and weep about all their oppressors but they won't simply keep the laws and commandments of YAH so that they don't have to lift up their voice and weep about all their oppressors anymore. In the matter of Peor, intermingling with gentiles and practicing idolatry destroyed Israel.
