I just watched MentisWave’s video “Refuting Bad Takes on Charlie Kirk’s Assassination”, and I’m here for it. So many people are pushing awful arguments right now—like saying Republicans secretly want this kind of thing because it boosts their movement, or claiming that words like “Nazi” automatically provoke violence so Kirk has “some blame.” In this reaction, I call bulls*** on all of that. Charlie Kirk deserved peaceful debate, respect, and life, not death and mockery. Those twisting this tragedy to fit their narratives—I'll be calling them out.

One teacher was caught mocking Charlie Kirk’s death in a public post, saying “good riddance to bad garbage,” among other vicious comments.

The Farmington BOE Chairman’s “They reap what they sow” social media post was widely condemned as celebrating his death. Connecticut GOP declared it indecent.

Governor Spencer Cox warned that radicalization online and extreme rhetoric are fueling political violence in the U.S., which is relevant when people claim that inflammatory language is just “free speech.”

Many on the left are pushing narratives that equate disagreement or strong speech with encouragement for violence. While strong speech can escalate tensions, it doesn’t justify celebrating a person’s murder or using dangerous rhetoric without consequences.

Why I’m Supportive of Charlie Kirk—and Critical of These Bad Takes:
Because this isn’t just politics—it’s about basic humanity. When people twist grief into glee, or sell ideological blame to dodge responsibility, they harm all of us. Charlie Kirk’s life, his debates, his voice deserved better than this. We should condemn calls for violence, mockery of death, and false god-complex narratives—not accept them. I believe that holding to principles of decency doesn’t make you weak; it makes you consistent. And in these moments, consistency matters more than ever.
