A24 Rat Trap: The Leaf-Cutter Rat Triplets (plus cousin!) and the Possum Family: A Circle of Life

This trio of rats (they kept coming!) was wreaking havoc in our vegetable garden. Time to put the A24 on the case! They were nicknamed the "Leaf Cutter" rats because they would go into the vegetable garden bed and cut leaves off of our Pole Beans, then scurry away to who knows where… They reminded me of the Leaf-Cutter ants living the jungle I've seen on many documentaries.

Their little cousin tries to get in on the action and unfortunately for him he isn't scared away…

Meanwhile, there was a possum family lurking trying to figure out what was going on. Momma possum has a taste for peanut butter (the bait I use on the A24 trap) and gets too close to the A24. Zap!

She seems to be okay later when she finds one of the Leaf Cutter Triplets and the Circle of Life is complete. At the end, baby possum tries to catch up to Momma and get some of the spoils.

I'm not really against possums. The netting on the vegetable garden keeps them out unlike the rats.

NOTE: The netting I'm using is "Bird Netting" to keep birds away from fruit trees. You can find it at your local hardware store.
