A quick look at your primary digging tool, the GeoCorp M.O.L.E.

It projects a charge to the end point of it's trace beam, blasting away meters of loose topsoil with ease. The ceramic based "magazine" must be swapped after numerous shots, due to cracking from the intense heat absorption.

The tech is thought to stem from a DARPA program that originated during NASA's Apollo missions. It's purpose was to provide a platform to rapidly clear away Lunar regolith , revealing "anomalies" without stressing astronauts and their suits on the lunar surface.
