What did Jesus really call us towards?

Did he call our attention towards politics or did he flip the tables by bringing about a whole new system of inner peace and liberation?

My beliefs after years and years of looking to political saviors and being left in the dark is that growth, light, and liberation does not come through following the 'right' political idol but rather by diving within and avoiding the external distractions which don't hold true power. Our light and guidance system is within us, and when we connect our spirits with the Divine soul we can open up blessings, prosperity, liberation, and peace. Jesus called us to ascend and take back our power by going within, and not by engaging and putting our hope and minds towards external idols and systems. He flipped the table on the system not by partaking in it, but by replacing it with a divine law and inner focused system.
