Market Warning Ted Oakley Says Smart Investors Expect 15 Percent or More Downside Ahead

While Wall Street cheers all-time highs, veteran investor Ted Oakley, Founder and Managing Partner at Oxbow Advisors, is raising a red flag. Speaking with Kitco News Anchor Jeremy Szafron, Oakley warns of a coming “sobering up sell-off” of at least 15%, as the real economy continues to deteriorate beneath the surface.

“Smart money is quietly raising cash,” Oakley says, revealing that his portfolio is 45% cash as seasoned investors brace for a disconnect between Main Street’s pain and Wall Street’s euphoria. He makes the case that 2026 profit estimates are wildly unrealistic, and the Fed may be forced to raise rates again by next year, shocking already fragile markets.

Oakley also highlights his top undervalued sector, forecasting oil could spike to $150 per barrel, and delivers a strong case for gold miners to double or triple based on cash flow metrics not seen since 2011.
