Adam Curry, speaking at the Stairway to the Stars event, sheds light on the major misconceptions and fears about AI, including potential world domination. His biggest concern is actually defining what consciousness is, in humans and in computers.

Curry tells us that we need to move beyond the Turing test of computer-based consciousness and devise new methods, which include testing precognition. To that effect, he shares the results of his own experiments to determine if it's possible to build a psychic machine.
