LAW AND ORDER. THE US NEEDS TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THAT MEANS

Prosecutors must reestablish deterrence. In cases of political assassination or coordinated terror campaigns, there can be no middle ground. Seeking the harshest possible convictions — conspiracy, sedition, material support for terrorism, and accessory to murder — is not vengeance. It is a constitutional duty to preserve the rule of law.
Deterrence: Maximum convictions send an unmistakable message that political violence will be punished with the full weight of the state. Without deterrence, political extremists will escalate.
Restoring Trust: The American people must believe that their government will protect them from both foreign and domestic enemies. When prosecutors refuse to act decisively, they betray that trust.
Reasserting Equality Before the Law: If a right-wing attacker faces full prosecution while a left-wing mob is coddled, the justice system becomes a partisan tool rather than a neutral safeguard. Equal application of maximum charges restores balance.
