"In the Garden of GOOD and EVIL"
When you look at the timeline of humanity you see a stark reality. The goodness a mankind standing out in juxtaposition to the evil of mankind. Both realities have existed from the very beginning, and will continue unto the very end. It is impossible that this contrast will change entirely. Until the Lord returns, we will always have good and evil men and women.
For example, when there were only two brothers on the earth, one rose up and killed the other. In the midst of a relatively perfect beginning, with nothing but two parents who Loved and adored each other, Cain became jealous of his brother Abel, and rose up and slew him.
Such is the beginning of humanity.
You may say, "Well, In the end all mankind will Love one another." If that is true then the Bible is false. For it plainly states in the last book of the Bible, The one that declares the condition of humankind during the final days, just prior to the return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and the following final judgment of all, what we call quote the "Great White Throne Judgment", that there will be those who Love each other, as well as those who hate each other. some will change from love to hate. Some will change from hate to love. This is a stated fact by God Himself:
Daniel 12:10
"Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand."
Now the end will come, when all men and women stand before the Great White Throne Judgment. Those have chosen Love, and the Author of Love, which is God himself, will be allowed to live in a permanent loving environment with one another and the Lord of Love. Those who consistently choose hatred and evil, will be forced to live permanently among those who have made the same choice.
These are facts that cannot be denied. Nor should they be. For if we are to live in the reality of Truth, we must then accept what Jesus, The one who said: "I am the truth" declared what is reality. Anything less than that and we are living in a fantasy world.
Of course we're not without hope. Hope is the stuff that life is made of. We hope for a better world. We hope for The Salvation of lost souls. We hope for Love to spread between neighbors and family members. And we work towards those goals. Our job assignment on planet Earth, regardless of our many various distinctives, is to Love and tell others about the wonderful Truth of the Gods Son.
Some will say yes and some will refuse. That is the choice of all living upon the earth. Our job is not to coerce or to force, as some religions do, but simply to offer the choice of Love that God has offered.
So therefore, the question must be asked, "Is it right and proper to label what is evil and what is good?" According to God's standards written in the holy scripture, The answer is Yes. He did that while walking on the earth, and commissioned us to do the same. The Bible declares that we are now His Ambassadors for Christ, continuing his mission and doing the same things He did:
2 Corinthians 5:20
"Now then we are Ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God."
If we fail to do this we have failed in our commission. The Great Commission, driven by and clearly defined by Jesus himself:
Matthew 28:19-20
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world."
Now while saying that good is good, and evil is evil, there comes with that a problem. That is, people get swept up in that recognition of good and evil. In other words, when we are saying that abortion is evil, or murder, or theft, or adultery, etc, according to what God has plainly declared multiple times in His Word, those individuals who practice such things, will obviously feel as though they themselves are being labeled as evil. It is impossible that some will not feel that way. And declaring what is evil, they will feel they are labeled as evil as well.
So should we retreat in order to spare the inevitable feelings of those individuals? Often the argument is made that if you speak out against evil, those who are committing such sins will themselves feel evil. Actually, and contrary to what many Christians feel, that is actually the point. Jesus did not shy away from saying evil was evil. Even though that would prick the conscience of many and cause them consternation and anxiety. Yes he always spoke the truth, knowing that the truth is what set men and women free.
He did it, and so should we. Yes we should have concern about people's feelings. But that concern should be outweighed by our concern for their eternal salvation. Not to mention the welfare of human beings right here and right now. Even if eternity was not true (which it is), the way people treat one another right now should matter to all of us. We are commanded to "Love your neighbor as yourself" and "treat each otherother the way we want to be treated."
So if I'm doing something evil, and someone calls out that evil as reprehensible before man and God, and I feel convicted about it, so be it. We should speak the Truth, and we should always speak it in Love. The Truth spoken in Love tends to attract. The Truth spoken without Love tends to repel.
We are living in last days when truth must be spoken. And what is right and what is wrong must be declared even in the face of possible harm. We just witnessed a young man, Charlie Kirk, who lost his life because of that very thing. And frankly, he did not just speak about moral biblical right and wrong, he also spoke about how we conduct ourselves as far as our public policy goes. Which is never been wrong to do, and never will be wrong. As a matter of fact, the Scripture declares that God expects us to do that. Not only to pray for our Leaders but to challenge them if they do wrong.
Just like we challenge the rest of humanity.
1 Timothy 2:1-4
"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth."
So let us be brave and fearless in the face of evil. Just like Christianity's most recent martyr, Charlie Kirk did. No one, including Charlie, or you and I, will ever be right about everything. Or do everything right like Christ. We can only do our best in the face of this present evil, that will always exist until the Lord Jesus comes cleanses the earth once again. Which is something else the Bible clearly states He will do:
2 Peter 3:13
"Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness."
There will be a new Heaven and a new earth, In which righteousness dwells. Until that day comes, we are called to live simple Holy lives. Living the Truth, and Loving the people God created on the earth, the same way God loves them, even while they, and we, were yet sinners. And then, we must stand up for what is right. God help us to do both.
Romans 5:8
"But God commendeth his Love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Revelation 22:11
"He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still."
