POEM 53

POEM 53 is a reflection on the carnal things experienced, lost, removed, undergone, etc., when one is seeking the truth of who God actually is and requesting deeper communal experiences with Him. The resulting "pruning" ; torment and pain that follows can bring a cynical attitude towards God and His greatness. These spiritual growing pains can also lead to a deeply held conviction that God, in fact, is great. He is understood to be great specifically because He actually is the only way through it all- all of which can only be understood, seen and/or experienced once one begins traversing the proverbial "path" and finds themselves in desperate need of His omnipotent grace.
