Dhamma is Eternal

Abstain from harm, from actions unwise,
Do what is wholesome, let compassion arise.
Purify the mind, again and again,
The law of nature never will change.

Dhamma is eternal, shining in all,
Not bound by a sect, nor temple nor hall.
The truth must be lived, not just believed,
Only by practice are we freed.

Some wear robes, some hold beads,
Some bow low and repeat their creeds.
But if it hurts, if it divides,
That is not where the Dhamma lies.

Dhamma is eternal, shining in all,
Not bound by a sect, nor temple nor hall.
The truth must be lived, not just believed,
Only by practice are we freed.

Sin is to harm, to wound, to betray,
Piety is helping, bringing peace each day.
No ritual, no word can take you there,
The path is to walk with mindful care.

A doctor gives medicine, clear and true,
But reading the paper won’t heal you.
Take the cure, don’t fight and defend,
Practice the truth, and suffering ends.

Dhamma is eternal, shining in all,
Not bound by a sect, nor temple nor hall.
The truth must be lived, not just believed,
Only by practice are we freed.

Ignorance falls, wisdom will grow,
The chains of craving let go, let go.
With every breath, each step we take,
Freedom is here, awake, awake.
