Jimmy Kimmel Got Fired
In September 2025, late-night host Jimmy Kimmel was suspended indefinitely from ABC following controversial remarks he made on Jimmy Kimmel Live! about the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. Kimmel mocked President Donald Trump’s reaction to Kirk’s assassination and criticized the political right’s response, with Nexstar Media Group and FCC Chairman Brendan Carr calling the comments “offensive and insensitive.” While ABC has not officially fired him, the indefinite suspension effectively ended his long run on late-night television and raised questions about political comedy, media responsibility, and free speech on national networks.
Meanwhile, singer D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, has become the subject of an LAPD investigation after the body of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, missing since April 2024, was discovered wrapped in plastic in the trunk of his abandoned Tesla at a Hollywood tow yard. Although D4vd was reportedly on tour at the time, and his team says he is cooperating fully, the matching “Shhh…” tattoo on both the victim and the artist fueled speculation online, while police confirmed that the vehicle was registered to him but may have been used by others. As of now, no arrests have been made, the cause of death is pending, and the LAPD Robbery-Homicide Division continues to lead the case.
In addition, the House Oversight Committee, chaired by Rep. James Comer, has scheduled a hearing on October 8, 2025, to examine online radicalization and politically motivated violence after revelations that Tyler Robinson, the suspect in Charlie Kirk’s killing, confessed in a Discord chat before being arrested. While CEOs of Twitch, Discord, Reddit, and Valve have been summoned to testify, a separate letter was sent by several lawmakers directly to the head of Twitch, urging the permanent banning of Hasan Piker, also known as HasanAbi, due to his history of controversial remarks and role as a high-profile political streamer on the platform. Although Hasan has not been officially called to testify, his name continues to surface in media and congressional discussions, making him one of the most closely watched figures in this debate over online speech, streaming, and accountability.
