Why Civic Education Matters More Than Ever — America 250 Coalition Launch

Civic literacy is collapsing. This coalition is America’s response to save it.

On Constitution Day, leaders from the America First Policy Institute, Turning Point USA, and Hillsdale College gathered to launch the America 250 Civics Education Coalition. Erika Donalds (Chair of Education Opportunity, AFPI) opened the event with a patriotic message and introduced speakers committed to revitalizing civic education before the nation’s 250th birthday in 2026. Linda McMahon, described as Secretary of Education in the transcript, emphasized that civic literacy is in decline and announced a series of 100+ events across the country to address it.

Greg Sindelar (President & CEO, AFPI) cited polling data showing 73% of Americans believe children aren’t receiving adequate U.S. history education, and 99% of parents want transparency. Dr. Hutz Hertzberg of Turning Point USA paid tribute to Charlie Kirk, referring to his recent assassination and emphasizing Kirk’s role in founding civics-focused Turning Point Academy. Dr. Larry Arnn, President of Hillsdale College, concluded with a passionate call to defend America’s founding principles through education.
