Trump, Melania Attend State Banquet At Windsor Castle Hosted By UK's King Charles III | N18G

US President Donald Trump attended a state banquet at Windsor Castle in the United Kingdom, hosted by King Charles III on Wednesday. He was accompanied to the royal dinner by First Lady Melania Trump. The US President received the largest guard of honour presented for a state visit to the UK. The ceremonial welcome included a 41-gun salute using six World War I-era guns, soldiers on horseback, and a military flypast. Both Trump and King Charles hailed the special relationship between the US and the UK. The King also praised Trump’s commitment to seeking peace around the world, to which Trump responded by calling the state visit “one of the highest honours” of his life. As part of the ceremonial exchange, Trump gifted the King a replica of a sword owned by former US President Dwight Eisenhower, and in return, received a book celebrating the 250th anniversary of the US Declaration of Independence next year. Trump also held a private meeting with the heir to the throne, Prince William, and his wife, the Princess of Wales, Catherine. In addition, he laid a wreath on the tomb of Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles’s mother, who passed away in 2022. Meanwhile, protests have continued across London against Trump’s visit to the UK.
