Streamed on:

In this interview, John Kiriakou talks to Anne Petermann, Executive Director of the Global Justice Ecology Project, about the disease that struck the American Chestnut tree in the early 20th century which was facing extinction. Long an important wood for industrials needs, and increasingly looked as an alternative to fossil fuels, scientists thought they had a solution to revive the chestnut through genetic engineering - but how wise of a decision is it to let tree pollen spread by winds, bees and other insects, and what might happen to other trees?
