Charlie Kirk : Myth & Martyr | Perception Matters

“On September 10th 2025 harlie Kirk was assassinated at an event held at Utah Valley University, by the Turning Point USA project that he founded and ran. He was using words and someone took actions that ended his ability to speak again.”

in an effort to understand my feelings & the reactions of others, i go over how i found out about kirk while tracking the reaction to iryna zarutska's unfortunate end. give examples and thoughts on why the reactions range from spastic celebration, general apathy, sinking dismay to righteous rage mostly based on what people thought they knew about kirk, compared to what I found out about him since sept 10th.

in #currenttimeline many of us have the choice to avoid viewing the deaths of our fellow humans. it is encouraging to me that this is in part due to how the ending of a life still matters to us even if we had never heard of the person. the circumstances matter even if we did not care about the person. the effects matter even if we actively despised who we think the person was.

problems occur due to how we define x rather than what x is. due to kirk's choice to maximize tools of the information age there is about who he was and what he thought available, to compare and contrast what people think they understand about his actions & thoughts. he may not have the ability to add to that on his own, but I am thankful for his life and potential understanding age it can help usher in.
