Kinross Delivers $650 Million in Free Cash Flow and Returns $300 Million to Shareholders

Kinross Gold (TSX: K; NYSE: KGC) is setting the standard for capital discipline and cash generation in the gold sector. Speaking with Kitco Mining at the Mining Forum Americas 2025, CEO Paul Rollinson highlights a blockbuster Q2 performance: 530,000 ounces of gold at $1,500 AISC, delivering over 50% margins and a record $650 million in free cash flow.

With its cash balance exceeding $1 billion and its stock price up 140% year-over-year—the best performance among major gold miners—Kinross is proving it can grow while holding the line on cost. “We’ve had greater margin expansion than the gold price increase,” Rollinson notes, citing disciplined operations and tight cost control.

Kinross is returning $650 million to shareholders, with $300 million already completed, thanks to robust dividends, buybacks, and strong free cash flow yield—drawing in generalist investors beyond traditional gold funds.

Growth is accelerating through a portfolio of top-tier assets:

Great Bear PEA projects 500,000–800,000 ounces/year at $800 AISC, with $1 billion in annual free cash flow at current gold prices.

Phase X (Round Mountain), Curlew, and Lobo-Marte offer additional scale.

Redbird 2 decision expected in Nevada later this year.

Chile’s Maricunga and Lobo-Marte represent long-life international upside.
